How this is calculated
Your pay is converted to an annual gross figure from whatever cadence you enter (hourly pay uses your weekly hours × 52). We then run the same resident tax calculation as the Income Tax calculator — brackets for your selected year, LITO, and Medicare levy, plus HELP/HECS if toggled — and divide the results back into annual, monthly, fortnightly, weekly and hourly amounts, gross and net.
Common questions
Why does the hourly conversion matter?
Annualising hourly pay assumes you work your stated hours for all 52 weeks. If you take unpaid leave or your hours vary, your real annual figure — and therefore your tax — will differ.
Is super included in the salary figures?
The take-home figures assume your quoted salary excludes super. Flick the "Add super on top" toggle to see the 12% employer contribution and your total package. If your contract quotes a package including super, divide by 1.12 first.
Are the fortnightly figures what my payslip will show?
Close but not exact. Employers withhold using ATO PAYG schedules, which smooth tax across pays and settle up at tax time. This calculator shows the annual truth divided evenly.
